Essential Packing

What are the things that you always forget to take on holiday? We head off to Venezuela in 7 days time and we are trying to get our bags packed. Washing and ironing done, books selected and vaccinations complete – but what are the extra things that you always forget?

My mother says I should take pegs, rubber bands and a sewing kit. What else do you think I need to take?

What the F***?

"We have had to let the sickest patients die as we have had no more drugs"

"People were raped in there. People were killed in there. We had multiple riots"

"They have M-16s and are locked and loaded. These troops know how to shoot and kill and I expect they will."

"Corpses were said to be rotting in the streets or floating through the floodwaters."

"People are dying, they're dying. Babies are dying, there's an old lady over there dead in the chair. People are dying. We're starving out here."

"You got a three-week-old infant out here. How is a three-week-old infant going to survive out here with no milk, no water?"

Worn torn Iraq? No. Famine in Malawi? No. Food crisis in Niger? No.

Panic, turmoil, no power, no food, no clean water, no clear plan in the world's richest nation. Yes.

The images I saw last night on the news and the interviews on the radio this morning simply beggar belief. That the US cannot respond anymore quickly within its own country to the plight of thousands of homeless people is unbelievable.

Once again the Bush administration shows that it doesn't give a fuck about anything other than big business and keeping daddy's pals happy. If you didn't want to piss on Bush before, now is the time to do it.
